The inspiration for G I T T E R came during my study stay in Japan.
The piece could be described as “distillate” of some of my most important impressions of that time.
The whole piece is determined by woody, brittle sounds that origin from my trips to older parts of some cities and the architectural peculiarities of the houses there.
It also hides fragments of melody, that derive from my lessons on two instruments of Japanese traditional court music and have made their way into the piece, for me almost like some kind of catchy tune.
